Troop 4 attended Summer resident camp at Camp Merz. Camp Merz is located along Chautauqua lake. 21 scouts and 4 leaders spent the week there. Scouts earned over 90 merit badges. Most of those scouts biked the 100+ miles to camp (see other article on Century Trek). Troop 4 had 85% of all our scouts go to summer camp.

Once again Troop 4 accomplished it’s annual Century Trek and rode their bikes to summer camp. This is a special trip because it is over 100 miles and takes three days. This year we had 18 scouts bike to camp 8 of which were first time Century Trekers. Coverage of the 2017 Century Trek was in Boys Life Magazine.
As shown below we traveled about 106.52 miles in three days. Scout who accomplish the Century trek and the training rides that go before it will have the required trips for the Cycling Merit Badge. Interested? Contact us at email@example.com
Troop 4 sent 6 of it’s scouts to National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) for a week. NYLT is an intensive week long camp that teaches scout youth how to implement patrol methods and become youth leaders in the troop. As part of our commitment Troop 4 paid half the cost for these 6 scouts to attend this program. By properly training and mentoring the scouts a stronger boy lead troop is achieved.
Each year troop 4 has a our annual High Adventure trip. In July 2018 scouts from Troop 4 accomplished the Cranberry lake 50 trip. This was a 6 day 50 mile backpacking trip in the back country. The trip circumnavigates Cranberry Lake in the Adirondacks. The total cost to each scout was $8. High adventure does not need to be high cost. Interested? Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
The week end of April 13-15 scouts from Troop 4 camped at Scouthaven Scout camp. The Saturday activity was an Amazing Race theme event were scouts had to go to certain stations and could only get the clue to advance to the next station when the current challenge was completed. Challenges included sending Morse code via smoke signals after building a fire and a simulated medial emergency that needed treatment.
